With the sky been so dark,
And the stars so bright,
In the quietness of the night,
I wake screaming out the pain,
Of the war that cried my name,
I cry and I shake,
Wishing to forget that night,
That haunts me over and over again,
I cry and I pray,
For the hurt I have locked deep inside,
I cry and I scream,
Remembering the men – how they lye so lifeless,
I can’t sleep for the nightmare won’t go away,
I have time to think – you are in my mind,
Your voice is so sweet and for that weep,
I cry and I shiver,
Hearing the cries of pain and fright,
The memories will always be inside.
